Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and Dual Credit Programs

ABOUT THE POST-SECONDARY ENROLLMENT OPTIONS PROGRAM
The Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program is designed to provide qualified high school students access to college-level coursework. College courses taken under the program may also fulfill high school graduation requirements, if approved by the student's high school.

ABOUT DUAL CREDIT PROGRAMS
Some high schools may make this option available to their students. Through collaboration with area universities and colleges, college-level courses are taught on-site at the high school by a teacher who possesses the same academic credentials as an adjunct professor teaching at a college campus. Interested students should inquire with their guidance office to see if this option is available at their high school. Deadlines and procedures for this option may be different from Kent State Tuscarawas' PSEO application deadline and procedure. Check with your high school guidance office.

Students seeking admission to the Kent State University at Tuscarawas PSEO  or Dual Credit programs should generally meet or exceed the following:

  • 3.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Demonstrated mastery of introductory college preparatory core curriculum through 10th grade
  • Preferred ACT composite score of 23 or combined SAT score of 1070 (reading and math)
  • College-level placement scores earned on the ACT/SAT as established by the University
  • Ohio requires a B average or better in a similar high school course prior to enrolling in a college course in the same subject area.

The application deadline is May 1 annually, however interested students are encouraged to discuss post secondary options with their high school in February or March.

Post Secondary and Dual Credit applicants must submit the following:

  • Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and Dual Credit Programs Application for Admission
  • ACT/SAT scores
  • Counselor recommendation form (included in application packet)
  • Official high school transcript
  • Teacher recommendation forms (included in application packet)
  • Typed, double-spaced five-paragraph essay (topic included in application packet)

Senate Bill 140 provides for payment of courses taken by students enrolled under Post Secondary Enrollment Option B. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions by phone at 330-339-3391 or by email at info@tusc.kent.edu.
