Posted Oct. 30, 2013
The Daily Kent Stater and The Burr both placed in the top 10 in “Best of Show” at the Associated College Press/College Media Association (ACP/CMA) National College Media Convention last week in New Orleans.
The Burr placed fourth overall in the feature magazine competition, and the Stater was ninth in the four-year daily broadsheet competition. The Stater also won third place for newspaper editorials/opinions in CMA’s Best of College Design competition for its post-presidential election opinion page.
JMC’s independent Student Media has a notable history in “Best of Show” competitions at the ACP/CMA national convention:
  • In 2012, the Stater took third place, The Burr took second place and took eighth place in their respective categories.
  • In 2011, the Stater took first place and the former took fifth place in the multimedia package category.
  • In 2010, took second place and Uhuru took fourth place in their respective categories.
The ACP/CMA national convention is the largest gathering of college journalists and advisers in the world.
