Kent State Tuscarawas Bridge Building ContestPosted Apr. 5, 2010
The Kent State University at Tuscarawas Engineering Technology Department held the Regional Bridge Building Contest for area high school students on March 11. Students participated from the following Cyber Club schools: Carrollton High School, Dover High School, Indian Valley High School, New Philadelphia High School, Strasburg High School and Tuscarawas Valley High School.
The submitted entries were judged by members of the Tuscarawas Valley Society of Professional Engineers. All participants were awarded a participation certificate. There were 45 bridges submitted with students participating either in a group or as individuals with a total of 65 students. First, second, third, fourth and fifth place winners were given a placement award plaque. In addition, the first and second place winners will be sponsored by the Engineering Technology Department to attend the International Bridge Building Contest on May 1 in Philadelphia, Pa.
The first place award went to Christian Teague from Tuscarawas Valley High School; second place - Julian Levengood, Tuscarawas Valley Middle School; third place - Bradley Renner, Strasburg High School; fourth place - Christian Teague, Tuscarawas Valley High School; and fifth place - Alena Hayden, Strasburg High School.
