Theatre's The Crucible Runs June 7-9Posted May. 21, 2013
Kent State University at Stark Theatre is proud to present a special collaborative event, The Crucible, an opera adaptation of the play by Arthur Miller, with libretto by Bernard Stambler and music by Robert Ward. The performances feature the talents of Kent State University faculty and students, as well as guest artists. The Crucible will take place on June 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. and on June 9 at 2:30 p.m. in the Kent State Stark Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. American Sign Language interpretation will be provided for the performance on June 9 at 2:30 p.m.
An unfaithful husband’s life turns tragic in this operatic version of an American classic that examines justice, honor and courage. He finds himself fighting against a monstrous political and religious “witch hunt” and is forced to face his past and reconcile his actions before the power of the court. For mature audiences only due to mature content.
Ticket prices are $14 for adults and $10 for non-Kent State students, children under 17 and senior citizens. All Kent State students are admitted free of charge with current student ID. Tickets may be obtained beginning Monday, May 27. The stage director of The Crucible is Kent State Stark Assistant Professor of Theatre and Theatre Director Brian Newberg. Judith Ryder is the musical director, Louis Williams is the scenic and lighting designer and Susan Blurton is the costume designer.
